Moldovan President, Igor Dodon, states that he won’t sign the Decree appointing the Attorney General if the candidate does not meet certain criteria.
„I will not sign the Decree appointing an Attorney General who will be promoted through political affiliation with the ruling parties, with political parties or through kinship with the parliamentary majority, this is not allowed. If you want to make real reforms, let’s do it by placing professionals for the job”, declared Igor Dodon, on Wednesday, during a broadcast on Moldova 1.
When asked to comment on the results of the Committee for the selection of candidates for the position of Attorney General, Igor Dodon said that „we have no comments as long as we do not have the final decision of the candidacy which should be submitted to the President”.
„They proposed to create another Committee at the Ministry of Justice. Five out of six members of the Committee selected the four applications. We didn’t get involved. There is an international expert, nobody influenced anyone”, said the president.
Oleg Crîșmaru, Vladislav Gribincea, Veceslav Soltan and Alexandr Stoianoglo are the 4 candidates from whom the CSP will choose only one, who will eventually be appointed as Attorney General.
