Tiraspol decided that cars with Moldovan numbers can’t transit Transdniestria
The separatist authorities from Tiraspol have decided that from the 24th of January all cars with Moldovan registration plate won’t be able to pass the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. The so-called Ministry of Foreign Affairs from Tiraspol declared that the decision is a response to the Moldovan authorities, which have forbidden, from the 10th of January, the border crossing for the cars with Transdniestrian registration plates.
According to the so-called authorities from Tiraspol, the interdiction will be available until the Moldovan authorities cancels their decision.
Short time after the insertion of this prohibition, the president of Transdniestria accused Chisinau of unilateral imposing of the restriction, therefore the negotiation process between the two sides got worse.
Starting from 10th of January, the Moldovan Border Police no longer applied into practice the temporary exception towards the control measures regarding the cars from Transdniestria. Therefore, all drivers that want to cross the state border of the Republic of Moldova need to comply with the Law 170/2018, which regulates the international circulation access to the Transdniestrian cars that do not conduct commercial activities.
The law also states that all the vehicles from Transdniestria that have permanent registration certificates and neutral license plates are allowed to international circulation.
