(Ep. 7) Vote informed! "Mr. Tarlev, it was not the EU that blackmailed us with gas or attacked our country! The EU offered a real chance for development" / Reply given by historian Oleg Chiseliov

In an explanatory material created especially for Russian speakers, historian Oleg Chiseliov disputes the statement of former Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev, who accuses that the pro-European vector of the current government in Chisinau led to the division of the Republic of Moldova. "The European Union did not blackmail us with gas or aggress our country. The European Union offered the Republic of Moldova a real chance for development," Oleg Chiseliov responds to the pro-Russian Vasile Tarlev.

What Tarlev said: "Moldovan people today are divided into two parts, and this is the result of a very intense and meticulous work of the current government that decided to implement the divide et impera mechanism in Moldova. They divided the people into ours and yours, and naturally it came to the fact that one part today is for the European Union, for the West, and the other for the East."

Oleg Chiseliov: "Dear Mr. Tarlev, first of all, we must emphasize that the main responsibility for the division of our society lies with the Russian Federation, which, through various methods, is trying to keep the Republic of Moldova in its civilizational sphere, thus creating divisions among citizens.

However, the choice of European integration as a vector of the future was a choice assumed by citizens, expressed through the vote for a pro-European party, the re-election of Maia Sandu, and through the referendum, which enshrined the European course in the Constitution.

It is not the European Union that blackmailed us with gas or attacked our country! It is not the EU that does not respect the sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova or supports separatists. It is not the EU that is responsible for the illegal financing of oligarchs or politicians. So far, the European Union has offered the Republic of Moldova a real chance for development, while it was the Russian Federation that attacked other states and waged wars in recent decades. So, the division you are talking about, Mr. Tarlev, is not caused by the European Union, but by the actions of the Russian Federation.
