An international conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine will take place in Bucharest. "Romania has a strategic role in the reconstruction process. Proximity to Ukraine creates opportunities." Communiqué from the "New Strategy Center", the think tank organizing the event

On October 22-23, 2026, New Strategy Center, a Romanian think tank specializing in security and foreign policy, will organize the third edition of the international conference "Rebuilding Ukraine: Security, Opportunities, Investment", in partnership with the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The conference will take place in Bucharest, at Romexpo.

The event will bring together officials, experts and business representatives from Romania, Ukraine and abroad to identify concrete projects and opportunities for economic cooperation in the reconstruction process of the neighboring country.

This year's edition will focus on transforming reconstruction needs into concrete projects and investment opportunities, as well as strengthening cooperation between Romania and Ukraine. The main topics addressed include strategic infrastructure and connectivity, transport and logistics, security and defense, energy, agriculture and sustainable development, reconstruction financing, trade and investment, as well as the role of local and regional communities.

"The reconstruction of Ukraine means connectivity, especially in the strategic triangle Romania - Moldova - Ukraine. A bridge over the Danube, between Isaccea and Orlivka, a logistics hub that would bring together the ports of Galați, Brăila, Reni, Izmail, Giurgiulesti, connecting the ports of Gdansk and Constanța through a railway that would pass through western Ukraine are concrete projects promoted by the New Strategy Center within this conference", the organizers report.

An important place in the conference will be occupied by the regional dimension and cross-border cooperation of reconstruction, through the development of cooperation between Romania and the Ukrainian regions. The participation of representatives from Transcarpathia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Vinnytsia, Odessa, Kherson and Kiev provides the framework for discussing concrete initiatives and for the development of partnerships between local authorities, communities and the business environment.

Romania has a strategic role in the reconstruction process of Ukraine, especially in the south of this country, an area heavily affected by the war. The proximity to Ukraine creates opportunities for the development of partnerships between Romanian and Ukrainian companies, as well as with large foreign companies that see Romania as a bridge to various regions of Ukraine, for investments in infrastructure, defense, energy, agriculture, industry and technology. Strengthening cooperation can contribute both to the reconstruction of Ukraine and to the development of connectivity and economic resilience of the entire region.
