Ukraine extends martial law and general mobilization until January 29, 2027

The Ukrainian parliament voted on Monday, October 26, to extend martial law and general mobilization for another 90 days, until January 29, 2027. The bills were submitted by President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrainska Pravda reports.
293 deputies voted for the extension of martial law, while the extension of general mobilization was supported by 281 parliamentarians.
Another 280 deputies voted for the immediate signing of the documents by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada and their transmission to the head of state for promulgation.
The current measures are in force until 31 October 2026, 05:30. Through the new decisions, they are to be extended until 29 January 2027.
In December 2025, President Volodymyr Zelensky declared that martial law could not be lifted until Ukraine obtained effective security guarantees. According to the Ukrainian leader, in the absence of such guarantees, the risk of new Russian aggression would remain high, even in the event of a ceasefire.
Martial law and general mobilization have been in effect in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, when Russia launched its full-scale invasion.
