Paun Rohovei: The military-technical agreement will defend the Republic of Moldova, not endanger it

The military-technical agreement signed in Kiev between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine does not contradict the status of neutrality, but will strengthen Moldova's defense capacity. This is the statement of the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova, Paun Rohovei. According to the diplomat, the agreement will help the Republic of Moldova strengthen its defense capabilities, including by facilitating the exchange of information on illegal overflight of airspace, IPN reports.
"It is an intergovernmental agreement, it has the value and weight of an international treaty. The agreement lays the legal basis for deeper cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova in various directions. The agreement lays a legal basis not only in the production of drones. New possibilities for exchanging information are opening up. Especially, information regarding airspace to prevent and avoid some incidents," explained the Ukrainian ambassador, during the "Rezoomat" show on RealitateaTV.
Referring to the possibility of producing drones and developing technologies in this field, the ambassador stated that Ukraine is willing to provide support to the Republic of Moldova, but any decision regarding the development of this industry belongs to Chisinau.
"Ukraine is open to cooperating with all interested states, including in the field of drone production, as well as technologies. But the decision to produce is sovereign and belongs to the Republic of Moldova. If there is a need, Ukraine is open to such cooperation," the Ukrainian diplomat stated.
Regarding the compatibility of the agreement with the neutrality status of the Republic of Moldova, Paun Rohovei insisted that the document respects the country's legal framework and does not imply its participation in military actions.
"The Republic of Moldova is a neutral state and this is enshrined in the Constitution. This agreement is not something out of the ordinary. It is not a document that contradicts the legislation of the Republic of Moldova. This agreement does not endanger the Republic of Moldova, on the contrary, it will help it defend itself from illegal overflights of Russian drones. It is not a military cooperation agreement. The Republic of Moldova is not getting involved militarily," Paun Rohovei pointed out.
