Ukraine hit two Russian factories involved in missile production and a plane at an airfield in Krasnodar

Ukrainian forces attacked two Russian enterprises involved in the production of missile components and raw materials, as well as an aircraft at a military airfield in the Krasnodar region. The strikes were carried out on October 23 and on the night of October 23-24, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, quoted by UNN and The Kyiv Independent.

One of the targets was the Proton-Electrotex factory in the city of Oryol, where, according to the Ukrainian military, the main production building was hit. The enterprise produces electronic equipment, including modules for S-71 "Kover" cruise missiles and inverters for 9M723 "Iskander-M" ballistic missiles. The factory also participates in the production of combat vehicles for the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft systems.

The Ukrainian General Staff claims that the attack on the Oryol enterprise will hinder the production of components for the missiles used by Russia against Ukrainian cities.

Another target was the Tolyattikauchuk chemical plant in the city of Tolyatti, Samara region. The Ukrainian military reported an explosion and fire in the area of the enterprise, which produces synthetic rubber, monomers and additives for high-octane gasoline.

According to the General Staff, the synthetic rubber produced at this plant is also used in the manufacture of solid fuel for tactical and ballistic missiles. Hitting such targets would disrupt the supply chain of raw materials for the Russian missile program.

On the morning of October 24, Russian Telegram channels reported fires at several businesses in Tolyatti following drone attacks. Footage filmed by locals showed plumes of smoke rising above the city. There were also reports of evacuations at the AvtoVAZ car factory, but this has not been independently confirmed.

Tolyatti is about 1.300 kilometers from Kiev and has been targeted by Ukrainian attacks before. The Tolyattikauchuk plant was previously attacked on September 12, and on April 4, both that enterprise and the KuibyshevAzot chemical plant were targeted.

Separately, the Ukrainian General Staff announced that a plane at the Eisk airfield in Krasnodar Krai had been hit. The type of aircraft was not specified, and the extent of the damage is still being assessed.

The Ukrainian military states that attacks on military targets on Russian territory are carried out based on the right to self-defense, provided for in Article 51 of the UN Charter, and that operations will continue until the cessation of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
