VIDEO | "We're setting fire to Parliament." Police present conversations about setting fire to state institutions and investigate a group that allegedly prepared mass riots

Messages about setting fire to the Parliament and courts, discussions about Molotov cocktails and attempts to attract minors to protests appear in a video released by the Police of the Republic of Moldova. The images were presented in the context of an investigation conducted by the National Investigation Inspectorate (INI), the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) and PCCOCS prosecutors, who are investigating a group suspected of preparing violent actions and mass disorder.

In one of the conversations attributed to participants in a Telegram group called "ProtestMD," the messages "Let's set fire to the parliament," "is that it?" and the response "This month." Another participant asks, "Do you know how to make Molotov cocktails?"

In another capture, presented in the same video, the message "are we starting to burn down the courts and parliament?" appears. The conversations are presented by the Police as part of the materials documented in the investigation.

The video also includes an audio recording in which a person talks about the possibility of organizing a protest, and later discusses attacking strategic locations and the property of some deputies.

According to preliminary investigation data, the group allegedly began operating in October 2026. Its members are suspected of seeking financial benefits and organizing violent actions, including the intentional destruction or damage of public and private property.

To attract participants, several fake profiles on TikTok and Facebook, as well as channels on Telegram, were allegedly created. Some of these were allegedly administered from outside the Republic of Moldova.

The video published by the Police also contains a poster distributed on TikTok, calling on citizens to a protest scheduled for October 25, in front of the Parliament in Chisinau.

Other captures show discussions about attracting young people to the demonstrations. In one conversation, one participant states that the protest would not be interesting without minors, and another person specifies that he is 17 years old. In another exchange of messages, the goal is set to gather at least 150–200 people in a group.

Police allege that the individuals targeted used manipulation methods to attract young people, especially from vocational and higher education institutions, to demonstrations that could have degenerated into mass disorder. According to investigators, these methods also aimed to diminish participants' perception of the consequences of illegal actions.

On October 23, INI and SIS officers, with the support of employees of the "Fulger" Special Purpose Police Brigade, simultaneously conducted several searches in Chisinau and in the central and northern regions of the country.

The searches targeted people suspected of calling for violence and inciting mass disorder. Images published by the Police show teams of law enforcement officers during the interventions.

According to the press release, as a result of the actions carried out, data was obtained regarding the involvement and attraction of young people in incitement activities. The suspects are currently cooperating with law enforcement agencies, and investigations continue to establish all the circumstances and identify those involved.

The authorities did not specify the number of people targeted, whether any arrests were made, or who financed the alleged actions.

The police warn citizens not to respond to messages that incite violence and destruction of property, reminding that such acts may even attract criminal liability.
