March in memory of Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici, 34 years after the tragic accident. Chisinau residents are invited to pay tribute to the symbols of national revival

Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici will be commemorated on Friday, October 30, in Chisinau, through a march dedicated to the memory of the two artists who became symbols of the national revival and of the fight for the Romanian language and Romanian identity. The event is organized on the 34th anniversary of the tragic road accident in which the two lost their lives. Participants are expected starting at 17:00 p.m. at the Monument to Stephen the Great and the Saint, from where they will set off towards the monument to the Aldea-Teodorovici couple.
The commemorative march is organized by the League of Students of Bessarabia (LSB), the National Idea, the League of Students of Bessarabia (LEB) and the Association of Romanian Orthodox Christian Students (ASCOR). The initiative aims to keep the memory of the two artists alive and to bring their contribution to the national revival movement of the late 80s and early 90s back to the public's attention.
The date of the event has a special significance. On October 30, 1992, Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici lost their lives in a road accident. Their death caused a wave of pain and emotion, as the two were already known for their active involvement in promoting the Romanian language, the tricolor and national ideals.
During the national liberation movement, the songs performed by Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici resonated at numerous demonstrations and public gatherings, becoming true anthems of a generation fighting for freedom and the reaffirmation of Romanian identity.
According to the program announced by the organizers, the march participants will gather at the Monument of Stephen the Great and the Saint in the center of the capital, and will move together to the monument dedicated to the two artists. There, commemorative messages will be delivered and the songs that consecrated Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici will be played.
The organizers invite students and anyone who wishes to pay tribute to the two artists and contribute to preserving their memory to participate.
The march will take place on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 17:00 p.m.
