VIDEO | Bucharest wants to accelerate cooperation with Chisinau. Prime Minister Luca Niculescu: "Romania remains the main advocate of the Republic of Moldova's accession to the EU"

Romania aims to deepen relations with the Republic of Moldova in several directions, from supporting the European Union accession process and developing economic exchanges to energy, interconnections and culture. Luca Niculescu stated, in an interview with TVR MOLDOVA, that Bucharest will continue to support Chisinau's European path, also citing Romania's experience after joining the EU.

Support for the European integration of the Republic of Moldova remains one of Bucharest's priorities, stressed Luca Niculescu.

"Romania remains the main advocate of the Republic of Moldova's accession to the EU. We know from our own experience what this accession meant for us. Maintaining the good foundations on which the relationship between the Republic of Moldova and Romania is built, we want to make it as dynamic as possible, to deepen it as much as possible", said Luca Niculescu.

During his visit to Chisinau, the first place he went was the Romanian Consulate, about which he noted the large number of interactions with citizens.

"There are many interactions there, it is one of the most dynamic consulates that Romania has and which functions very well for the benefit of citizens", said the head of the Bucharest Executive.

The official also spoke about the need to develop bilateral relations on several levels, emphasizing the economy, energy, and interconnection projects between the two states.

"Politically, I thank the authorities in Chisinau for the warm welcome they gave me. Economically – the economy is extremely important and we see how much it has progressed and what dynamic trade exchanges exist between Bucharest and Chisinau, energy, interconnections of all types", the Prime Minister said.

Culture is another area in which relations between the two banks of the Prut can be developed, Luca Niculescu also stated.

"You have important writers, whom I read with great pleasure, you have a fabulous theater and I think we can do more here too", said Luca Niculescu.
