Kiev, shaken by new Russian bombings. A strategic bridge and a student dormitory, hit by missiles

A bridge in southern Kiev, a major transport artery, was hit in a Russian attack on Monday night. The metro infrastructure on the Pivdennyi bridge was damaged and traffic in the area was suspended, the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko, announced, quoted by AFP and Reuters.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the capital was targeted during the night by at least ten missiles.

The attack comes after Russian missiles hit an educational institution in Kiev, as well as residential buildings and medical facilities, on Monday evening. At least one person was killed and ten others were injured, including students staying in a dormitory at the State University of Trade and Economics, located on the east bank of the Dnieper River.

Authorities said nine of the injured were hospitalized, three in serious condition. Rescue teams also found one deceased person near a severely damaged apartment building.

Following the attacks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky again called for the rapid delivery of air defense systems and missiles. The leader in Kiev said that delays in the delivery of this equipment leave Ukrainian cities and villages exposed to attacks.

Zelensky stated that Ukraine has been waiting for approval for deliveries of Patriot and NASAMS missiles from the United States for almost a month and that he asked his team to resume discussions with American officials on this issue.
