Finance Minister Victoria Belous has confirmed that her name is on the list of potential candidates of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) for the position of mayor of Chisinau. The official did not rule out the possibility of entering the 2027 electoral race, but specified that the final decision is to be announced by the party's leadership.

The statements were made during the "La 360 de grade" show on Radio Moldova, where the minister was asked if she had personally discussed with PAS representatives about a possible candidacy.

Belous avoided confirming the existence of a concrete proposal, but admitted that he was among the people considered by the party for this position.

"We will come up with more details on this subject after we have the official position," the minister said.

Asked if she was ready to assume the position of mayor of the capital, Victoria Belous invoked her experience in the public sector, including her mandate as a deputy.

"I don't think it's an impossible challenge, because when you work, work with dedication, things change," said the Minister of Finance.

PAS is set to nominate its candidate for the 2027 local elections, after Alexandru Vornicu, the mayor of Stăuceni, announced that he is withdrawing his candidacy.
