Moldova is advancing on the path to the EU. Maia Sandu: Progress in all 33 chapters, and concluding negotiations by 2028 is "ambitious, but achievable"

The Republic of Moldova has made progress in all 33 chapters of negotiations for accession to the European Union, and Chisinau's objective of concluding negotiations by 2028 is considered by the European Commission to be ambitious, but achievable if the country maintains the pace of reforms. The message was conveyed by President Maia Sandu, after the publication of the European Commission's Annual Enlargement Package. The Head of State emphasizes that Brussels' assessment confirms the Republic of Moldova's progress on the European path, but also shows the areas where additional results are needed, especially the implementation of legislation and the fight against corruption.

The accession process remains one based on merits and the fulfillment of the undertaken reforms.

"The European Commission today published the Annual Enlargement Package, which shows where each candidate country is on the path to the European Union. The report on the Republic of Moldova reflects the work done over the past year to align with EU standards. In the last 12 months, we have made progress in all 33 negotiation chapters. We have set ourselves the goal of concluding the accession negotiations by 2028. The European Commission considers this objective ambitious, but achievable, if we maintain the pace of reforms. This assessment should give us confidence that, by working further, we can achieve the objectives we have set for ourselves as a country.", the head of state posted on her Facebook page.

At the same time, the president pointed out the areas in which the Republic of Moldova still needs to make progress and urged the continuation of reforms.

"The report also specifies where we still have work to do: implementing the adopted laws and achieving concrete results in corruption cases. We know what we have to do. Thank you to all those who carry out this work every day – in institutions, in civil society and in the private sector. We continue", concluded President Maia Sandu.
