Prime Minister Vasile Tofan received the EU Enlargement Report: "Our target to provisionally close the negotiations at the beginning of 2028 is ambitious, but achievable"

Prime Minister Vasile Tofan received the European Commission's report on the progress made in the EU accession process. According to the Prime Minister, the Commission places Moldova among the four most advanced countries in the accession process. According to the EU, the negotiations could be provisionally closed in early 2028, if Moldova maintains the pace of reforms.
Tofan announced on November 4 that he had received the document from the EU ambassador to Chisinau, Iwona Piórko. The Prime Minister described the assessment as "very good" and said that, in the Commission's assessment, the deadline proposed by the Republic of Moldova is "ambitious, but achievable."
"Today I received the report for Moldova from EU Ambassador Iwona Piórko. The assessment is very good: the Commission includes us among the four most advanced countries in the process and confirms that the reforms of recent years have brought us closer than ever to our objective. The Commission directly says that our target of provisionally closing the negotiations at the beginning of 2028 is ambitious, but achievable, if we maintain the pace of reforms. It is an important recognition for Moldova and for all those who worked for this result - in institutions and in society, including in a very difficult period. We are happy with the result, but we are not slowing down. European integration is our national project and depends, above all, on how well we do our work at home," Tofan wrote on social media.
We remind you that today, the European Commission published the Annual Report on the Enlargement of the European Union, in which it confirms that the Republic of Moldova has fulfilled the necessary conditions for the opening of the other two clusters of negotiation chapters. According to the document, maintaining the current pace of reforms would allow our country to conclude accession negotiations by the beginning of 2028
European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, stated, during the presentation of the report in the European Parliament, that Moldova and Ukraine, which are going through the accession process together, have shown resilience and commitment to the European path. At the same time, the Commissioner announced that the European Union has prepared roadmaps for the two countries, which will set the priorities for the coming year.
