Nicușor Dan calls for coordinated support for the security of the Republic of Moldova: "It really needs our help." Chișinău, included in Romania's vision for the reconstruction of Ukraine

The Republic of Moldova must benefit from coordinated international support to deal with the security threats generated by Russia's war against Ukraine, believes the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan. The leader from Cotroceni draws attention to the need to strengthen security, energy independence and Chișinău's capacity to combat hybrid threats. At the same time, the Romanian head of state argues that the Republic of Moldova must be included in regional reconstruction and interconnection projects developed in the context of Ukraine's recovery. The messages were transmitted on Thursday, October 22, during the conference "Rebuilding Ukraine: Security, Opportunities, Investment", organized by the New Strategy Center.

The message of the President of Romania was presented by the Presidential Advisor for National Security, Marius-Gabriel Lazurca. According to the press release of the Presidential Administration in Bucharest, Nicușor Dan reaffirmed Romania's commitment to supporting Ukraine on all levels, including so that it can negotiate a possible peace from a position of strength.

At the same time, the Romanian leader drew attention to the vulnerabilities of the Republic of Moldova in the context of the war in the neighboring country, emphasizing the need for a joint effort to strengthen its defense and resilience capacities.

"The Republic of Moldova is in great need of our coordinated assistance to strengthen its security, energy resilience and ability to fight hybrid threats," it is shown in Nicușor Dan's message.

The President of Romania also addressed the prospects for Ukraine's post-war reconstruction, which he associated with the European integration process and the development of regional infrastructure.

In this context, Nicușor Dan emphasized that reconstruction and connectivity projects should not be limited to Ukrainian territory, but should also include the Republic of Moldova, as well as strategic links with the Black Sea region.

"Romania believes that the integrated approach to regional reconstruction and interconnection must also take into account the Republic of Moldova and connectivity to the Black Sea," it is shown in Nicușor Dan's message.
