A drone entered the airspace of the Republic of Moldova without authorization on Saturday, October 31, during the massive attacks launched by the Russian Federation on Ukraine. The aircraft was initially detected in the direction of the Transnistrian region, and was later identified in the Telenesti district. For security reasons, the authorities temporarily restricted the airspace in the north of the country, and at 16:54 the drone disappeared from radar monitoring systems near the village of Tsibirica, Călărași district. The information was communicated by the Air Operations Center of the National Army.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the drone was detected at 16:24 p.m., moving from the direction of the Semionovca locality, Odessa region of Ukraine, towards the Plopi locality, Ribnita district, located in the Transnistrian region.

Subsequently, monitoring systems identified the aircraft in the area of Banesti, Telenesti district. In the context of security risks, at 16:46, the airspace in the northern part of the Republic of Moldova was restricted.

Just eight minutes after the restrictions were imposed, at 16:54 p.m., the drone disappeared from radars near the village of Țibirica, Călărași district.

For now, authorities have not communicated the type of drone, its exact origin, or whether the aircraft crashed or continued its movement outside the monitoring range.

The Air Operations Center states that monitoring of the national airspace continues, in coordination with the competent institutions and partners of the Republic of Moldova.

Authorities are warning the public not to approach any drone fragments, as they could contain explosives. People who observe suspicious aircraft or discover their remains are urged not to touch or move them, to note the location where they were found and to move at least 500 meters away.

Citizens are also advised to avoid using the phone in close proximity to suspicious objects and to call the 112 service after leaving the danger area.
